These days, I am reading “Wilder” by Millie Kerr which provides an overview about #rewilding, which aims to #restore ecosystems to their natural state (or a more natural state, there are many definitions for rewilding π).
Kerr, a journalist and former lawyer, takes readers on a global journey, examining the practicalities and possibilities of rewilding efforts around the world. The book delves into various projects, from the #Argentina‘s Ibera to multiple sites in Africa such as Akagera National Park in #Rwanda, Gorongosa National Park in #Mozambique and Ouadi RimΓ©-Ouadi Achim Game Reserve in #Chad. π¦ π¦ π π
One of the strengths of “Wilder” is its ability to inspire optimism. Several case studies Kerr explained in her book, including a few sites in Africa, witnessed major turmoil and conflict in recent times. But, following investment and dedicated conservation actions, these regions are witnessing nature’s comeback. π€ π π€
“Wilder” is a compelling read for anyone interested in rewilding and nature recovery. It’s a reminder that with commitment and action, positive change is possible. If you are keen to go on a virtual tour of the rewilding landscapes, this is a perfect book to read.
